Same song "To make you feel my love" Bob Dylan original and Billy Joel first cover. Adelle also covered the song.

Dylan is great stuff. My Favorite is All Along the Watchtower.

Here is an electric version by Dave Mason who played the acoustic guitar part on Jimi Hendrix's version of the song.

12. “If you like someone’s work, the important thing is to be exposed to everything that person has been exposed to. Anyone who wants to be a songwriter should listen to as much folk music as they can, study the form and structure of stuff that has been around for 100 years.” Bob Dylan.
This is one of Bob Dylans quotes on literature. To me, the quote applies to life and learning things in and about life. Applied to roulette it confirms how vital it is to establish a learning platform and to learn from seasoned players.

'Mr. Tambourine Man'(1965)What does it mean?: ‘Tambourine Man’ was 60s slang for a drugs dealer and Dylan is said to have written it on a hash-fuelled road trip.

Just a fun fact that I wasn't aware of about the song.

'Mr. Tambourine Man'(1965)What does it mean?

It means that The Byrds are going to have another hit.

That was my first rock concert. The same show did the TV show Shindig. I saw Chad & Jeremy, The Kingsmen, and The Byrds.

Great music? And/or great poetry?
In 2016 Dylan was awarded the Nobel Prize of Literature.
In 2004 Boston professor Christopher Ricks in his book "Dylan´s Visions of Sin"
gave us  a scholarly  analysis of the works as a reflection of social conscience, earthly and divine love, and spiritual temptation. It struck me that he did not mention "With God on Our Side" at all.
Maybe he did not like the message?
Thanks to MickyP for mentioning it.

Radio stations, freaks, and "Dylananiacs" of the sixties were eager to believe,
that this or that song contained something about drugs.
"The green green grass of home" is a good example.
Now MickyP asks what "Mr. Tambourine Man" (Dylan´s work from 1965) means.
It might not be about hash. I read somewhere that this work is about the artist TRANSCENDING TIME.
We don´t need drugs to do that.
Dylan´s attitudes to TIME has always been a bit strange, to say the least.
And he might not realize that it is time to retire.

I was reading up on Dylan songs and came across Mr Tambourine Man being related to hash so I thought I'd share the info. First time I saw this.
People tend to relate "out of time" music lyrics from 60's songs with drugs because that was the decade that saw music gear up from the conventional stuff of the 50's. It was a time of true freedom of expression and people embraced this.
The world was a busy place in the 60's and music helped drive the consciousness of the masses to new levels of awareness.

Glad you enjoy this thread Dane. I like your views on music. Bob Dylan started his music career in 1961; five and a half decades ago. I think the man deserves a thread of his own.

"Noone doubted that he pulled the trigger". This does not refer to Ken´s thread on triggers.
 No, it is from "Hurricane".
In reply #4 Ken provided us with a link to this song about Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, a boxer who spent 19 years in jail for a murder Dylan felt he did not commit. Carter´s case is complex and filled with legal missteps; and lawyers at Columbia Records made Dylan change some of the lyrics to avoid lawsuits.
The song is extremely well structured. Much more structured than we might expect from Dylan.
The fact that he did not write it on his own may explain this. He co-wrote it with Jaques Levy.

This is what does it for me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I62Vt_7e0Fw

Listening isn't enough unless it has some amazing entertainment concepts attached to it. The best hope I have for this next entertainment generation, seeing that Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, are all but faded away is people willing to work very hard to put on a concert. Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mobFLCLgrsA

I got the Blue Ray DVD and it's just incredible. What a band. Great guitar, bass, drums, keys, and back up singers too.
