Risk less to gain more
« on: January 28, 2018, 05:58:29 PM »

Last weekend i was in the casino to play a Parachute method.
Risk 2100 Euro to gain 200 Euro.

It has never been my comfort zone to have 2100 Euro or more with me to the casino.
And this night i had a bad feeling about not having lady luck on my side.

So i decide not to play the Parachute method and risk 2100 Euro to gain 200 Euro.
Took my notebook and come up with a small five step parachute method using the Line with 2 Euro minimum bet.
I calculate i would risk a small amount.

Start playing and did get a direct hit and after that nothing, so when i was down 70 Euro i stop playing and exchange my color chips into money chips.
Went to exchange my money chips into money and went out for the casino.

Took a cab home, always do that when i have large amount of money on me.
Then i start to think about Brett Morton and John Patrick and money management.
Come to the following conclusions that i will risk less to gain more and will start to explore the world using positiv progressions.
I just feel no good any more risking serious money to gain small amounts, it should be the other way around.

Cheers

Great post Sputnik.
Excuse me for taking the liberty to change your subject to something more fitting to your post.
You make some great points and I love the narrative way of describing your epiphany.

I believe both approaches have merit.
Positive progressions are great. On the other hand up as you lose have merit too. It all depends on your limit. This is why we all accept that Martingale, can win many times, but it is quite suspect for a total bankroll elimination. Also your posts shows why player mentality is important, when choosing a strategy. Different strokes for different folks. There is no point in trying to make a player play a strategy he doesn't feel comfortable with.

Congrats on your self consciousness, discipline and for leaving the casino with a profit.

I would love to read more opinions on the subject you raise.

Sputnik,

One of my favorite positive progression systems is the reverse Labrouche.

I write down the bankroll.
111111111122222222223333333333444444444455555555556666666666  (should add up to about $210)

The first bet is the sum of the outside bets.
If the bet loses, cross out the two outside numbers...the one on the far left, and the one on the far right.
If you win, then write down the sum of the two outside numbers on the far right, and then add up and place your next bet. (Again the sum of the two outside numbers.)

Play until you win ten times your starting bankroll.  Then flip a coin.  Heads, you continue playing for another spin.  Tails you quit.

This system is a blast when you have a group of people out for drinks.  Just pick an EC and go at it.

Good Luck!

Yes that's where I got the idea for the system years back.   The book is fiction, but the system is still fun.

Thanks Real, problem is that outside bets has 10$ minimum and i want to operate with 2$ minimum using number locations.
I have been testing binomial probability calculations equal a even money bet and my observation show a 50/50 distribution.
So my thought is to play a corner bet as a even money bet or any other location using positiv progression.
That way i risk minimum amount of money with a shot at big rewards.

Cheers

I don't see any purpose in using the binomial probability calculations.
