What's your GOLDEN RULES at the game?
« on: December 27, 2018, 12:29:23 PM »
Building up a new system, or tweaking one we already play, is often a process of elimination. Just like a sculptor we remove layers of clay to free the true form which is hidden inside.
Over the years, by means of failures and experiments, I dismissed some concepts related to roulette which I decided not to implement anymore in my future systems. Yesterday I began to write my "roulette journal" and this topic was the one who fills the first page. What did I learn over the years? The following are some of the things I noted.
* Bet on trends and heat, never chase "sleeping" numbers nor the equilibrium
* Bet against any intermittence

* Negative progressions such as Martingale and Labby (in all its forms) must be dismissed
* Never rely on a system which bets on two dozens/columns
* Columns are somehow less reliable than dozens
* Betting on EC is the most insidious play at roulette

* Never play a negative progression against any specific trigger - eventually you lose even if you have 98.8%
* Positive progressions are safer that negative ones, but have very low win rate.
* Flat betting on straight up numbers has the best risk-for-reward-ratio
* Look at the wheel, not the felt
* Theoretically, two extreme events never come in back-to-back fashion

* Search for a statistical edge during the flow of the permanence and link your bet selection to it
* Ideally, your win goal should be greater than your stop loss
* If you wanna be a pro you must have the guts to play a large bankroll
* Bet big when you are ahead, bet small when you are behind but...
* ... be able to accept small returns, and cut your losses to the bone
* Implement a sound strategy and a flexible tactic
* Winning and losing at gambling is mainly a matter of discipline and self control

Well, maybe I forgot something but the above is absolutely true for myself.Have you ever made a list such as this?
Is there anything you swear you never do anymore at the table?

1) Always configure the strongest statistics possible for each stage of system play.  Sometimes this means lowering the win rate instead of increasing it
2) Make the winnings large enough to pay multiple times over the cost of a loss, based on how frequently it is expected to arrive
3) Simply do not deviate from the plan of play unless it should become a permanent part of the system
4) Track & record all results and constantly study to improve results until a HG is achieved

Rimsky, Wow! What a great stepping stone to set your course for the next year.

I haven't used a list like this as my process has been more fluent so no definite defining moments that warrant drawing up a list but what a great idea.

My focus is on playing few numbers currently and has been for a while My attention has been fixed on the wheel and I believe that my course is pretty much set for the year to come.

Thanks for a great and inspiring post. I wish you the best results from your commitment to being on top of your game.

Thank you Micky,
you are very kind as always.

I think that summarize a bit what you know - and most of all what you know that does not work - could help. This sort of cleanings has always worked for myself.

Wish you the best for your game.

I **HIGHLY** commend you for learning over the years, not being afraid to post it and of course, eliminating what does not work. My bigger question is for the people that THANKED you, its confusing. I guess there can be more than one reason for a THANKS. Your "thanked" members will still do the opposite of your post (lol)

My list I hope is NOT off topic >>
(in no order) play the wheel, not the layout. Play FEW numbers, all flat betting but in some cases, up your bets ONLY if you are winning. Do not get greedy with your win goal, be realistic !!!No triggers, virtual etc. Lots of testing at C. Casino. Its kinda fun & free.
LEARN from others that know more !!!!!!!!!!!!  Be patient. Study hard. Look at roulette like its a college course. If you are still doing the same BS years later, you failed the course (lol).
Be nice but not a sucker. Point people in the right direct but dont reveal everything. Put your ego/pride to the side. You cant pay the bills with your inflated ego/pride. Frank might know more about roulette than you. So fu***n what? (get off your high horse). Dont make this game tougher than it needs to be. Dont bet money you cant afford to lose. You will NOT win everyday, so what? Have a PASSION for this game. Be obsessed or be average. If you have a decent idea, dont have like 4 failed versions, then give up. Thats for quitters. Moderation is for cowards.

You must go through dozens and dozens of different versions of a certain method. If that method shows some life to it, keep at it !!! Ask some questions but dont be a pest. You do NOT know it all.
Think of your bets in terms of UNITS, not money. Never play RNG on-line. If that is your ONLY choice, do not play at all. Maybe stamp collecting might be better for you. Concentrate on only ONE casino game and master the s**t out of it.

You can learn much more from mistakes vs. your wins. Think way outside the box when trying to create a new method. (I could go on and on and on)

Be indifferent to the outcome as the outcome is indifferent to you.

My attitude is ,having pleasure to play roulette. Be satisfied with small profits. A really successful player  is the player who can make a overall profit of about 1% a 2 %. Play small sessions and hit and run!!

Very simple. Play each session as a single event. Try to see as much opportunity as is currently showing after each spin, hand , or toss of dice. Check to see if there is a global trend occurring. End the session once you reach your goal.

Stop loss is important, so you lose only a certain percentage of the amount you start playing, that is, you don't lose everything. Often it happens yous do rebets hoping that the loss streak ends next spins, but all cash gone rebets  still win not come, so stop loss prevents loss all cash.
