No free alcohol?
« on: August 21, 2018, 08:20:02 PM »
I always wondered about this.....many casinos offer free booze so that the bettors get more STUPID with their wagering. I think its smart !

Some casinos (like here in my city) there is no free booze. I think some casinos might feel they would take a loss by doing so. My question/point being, why not do it on a temporary trial basis and look at the stats after doing so? It cant really hurt all that much.

Meaning, maybe from Sept 1 - Dec 31, free alcohol.

Then COMPARE the numbers from a year prior (same time period) and see casino profits, up or down etc., a cost analysis sort a speak. If its a dud, forget about it. Seems smart, I dont know.

Here you get free drinks ( mostly coffe and jusses) , just by asking a waiter while you play.
Free alcohol comes only when they want to offer you.
Some casinos have a buffet dinner and breakfast free, on others you got to pay for everything. ....

At the Indian casino, only free drinks are soda and coffee.  Beers are $5

There is no free booze for Ken in the casinos where he lives.  Should we feel sorry? Of course he is aware that free booze makes bettors more STUPID. Nevertheless he states that free alcohol in a given period really can´t hurt all that much. If you yourself is an alcohol consumer, you might tend to agree. I myself have been sober for many years.

A long time ago the American writer Tom Wolfe described a bettor in Las Vegas.  In one pocket the bettor had some pills to keep him awake. In another pocket he had some pills to make him relax. But he had forgot which was which.
WANT TO LOSE YOUR MARBLES? Alcohol and drugs can help you!

and back to my point/question.....I dont see the HARM having a temp policy of free alcohol. Run the numbers afterwards and compare with last year, seems simple.

and back to your point/question..Drunk people (and your president) tend to REPEAT themselves.
Guns, alcohol and other drugs are known to HARM people.  Addicts and people from some lobby
might not want to see that.
It might seem simple to observe people acting STUPID for some time - but are you able to see all the long term effects?

So does that mean you are against ALL casinos that give away free alcohol or is it only on my thread, my casino, my question you have an issue with?  ;)

I stand by 100% with my comment/observation >> "many casinos offer free booze so that the bettors get more STUPID with their wagering". << This comment here is also fact, not opinion. Its called liquid courage.

I have never questioned that alcohol consumption may make you more stupid , but thanks for the REPEAT anyway.  One step for Mankind?
It is not you, I have an issue with, but "King Alcohol".

We can agree, alcohol makes people do bad things and takes lives. I dont argue you that one bit.
I was just curious regarding the casino aspect of it, thats all. I play for HOURS at a time. I see guys sit down  (sober) and play conservatively.

The booze starts flowing......five hours later, they are betting 30 numbers (lol), sorry, I find it funny and predictable.

"Next step: they lost all bankroll, right?" >> Its not always, but its most of the time. Funny? You bet it is.
Myself.....I NEVER drink alcohol (free or not) while playing. When done (won OR lost) then I'll have a couple and relax.

To Ken. So you only looked at the casino aspect of it. In reality you knew better; and you NEVER drink alcohol while playing. When done you´ll  "have a couple and relax". But according to ScienceDaily (February 13, 2008) "One Drink of Red Wine or Alcohol Is Relaxing To Circulation, But Two Drinks Are Stressfull".
And in "Addiction.com" I found this: "25 ways To Relax Without Drugs Or Alcohol".
Of course I am not stealing your drinks 8).

Ummm, ok Dane. What if I had an Excedrin which contains caffeine instead of a Mountain Dew?

Is that a mistake as well? I'm not sure what your aiming for Dane. Let me guess, another "lets get Ken" moment?! (lol)

Alcohol, people drink it, get over it. Some people cant handle their booze, oh well. I'm trying to meet you halfway here Dane.

With your suggestion of free drinks you seemed to ENCOURAGE people to drink alcohol. You obviously enjoy the company of alcohol consumers.  Guess what........ I don´t.
An old song stated that "There must be fifty ways to leave your lover". HALF as much is 25 :P
As I quoted there are "25 Ways To Relax Without Drugs or Alcohol".  I have practiced one of them for decades. Not only does the meditation technique make people relax much more. There are other benefits too. Of course I know that most people prefer one more drink.
But I AM a heavy coffee drinker. So you DID meet me halfway after all. And I have nothing more to add on this subject.
